A good project management team has the ability to manage multiple building projects no less professionally or controlled as a single building project – an ability that one of our clients explored to the full, when Marchmont were instructed to tender and fit out 35 office/shops during a single time frame of 12 weeks.
The client passed us internally approved designs and drawings for a package of 35 offices and shops throughout the UK and asked us to deliver completed fit outs within 12 weeks.
Of course cost control was essential and each job needed financial approval prior to starting on site.
Given the scale and fast track nature of the job, it was proposed to agree a schedule of rates with a nominated set of contractors which guaranteed uniformity of cost nationwide.
Given the geographic spread and decision to run with 4 contractors simultaneously, each contractor handling 8 jobs at one time over a 4 week programme there were some anxious moments but with excellent central control and client communication, all 35 fit outs were completed at the due time and to budget !
